| About Us |
 |
Apple Laine began in 1995 as a small herd of Angora Goats in rural Ontario
near the town of Russell. By 1998, the yarn company was born and hand painted
yarns were sold from the web site. Many of the same colours that are dyed
today were created during those first years. |
|
| The move from retail to wholesale began in 2005 with the creation of Apple
Pie yarn and the building of the dye studio. |
 |
|

|
The studio sits at the end of the lane that runs past the old orchard.
Once there were Angora Goats grazing on fallen apples. The goats have retired
and now yarns are dyed there. The colours are inspired by nature as seen
in the views from the windows. |
|
The yarn was designed to combine the soft spring of superwash merino, the
shine of silk and the strength of mohair. This hand painted yarn differs
in that it is dyed in large batches, the colours remain consistent within
dyelots and the colours are also consistent from one dyelot to another.
We are inspired to create, we hope you are too. |
